Reviewer Terms

1.1 These Reviewer Terms apply to anyone who creates a reader account in the BookWorkz Review Library, requests or receives a review copy through it, or posts a rating or review in it. We call you a reviewer; we call the author or press that owns a book a publisher; and BookWorkz means AleWin Enterprises LLC d/b/a BookWorkz.

1.2 You must be at least 18 years old. Books in the Review Library may contain mature content, and publishers rely on reviewers being adults.

1.3 You agree to these terms when you click to accept them on the claim screen. We record that acceptance — which version of this document you saw, and when — so that both of us can rely on it. Our Privacy Policy explains what else we hold about you.

1.4 If you also hold a publisher account on BookWorkz, the Terms of Service govern that account. These Reviewer Terms govern what you do as a reader.

2.1 BookWorkz is a platform. Publishers list their books; reviewers request copies; publishers decide who receives one. BookWorkz does not own the books, does not choose who gets a copy, and does not review or endorse the content of any book.

2.2 A publisher may decline a request, limit how many copies a book has, stop sending you copies, or remove a book from the Library at any time, with or without a reason.

2.3 BookWorkz limits how many review copies a reviewer may hold at once. The Library tells you the limit and how many you are holding.

3.1 One account per person. Keep your email address current — it is how copies reach you and how we tell you about changes to these terms.

3.2 You are responsible for what happens under your account. Do not share your login.

3.3 You may close your account at any time by writing to admin@bookworkz.tech. Section 10 explains what happens to your copies and reviews when you do.

4.1 A limited license, not a sale. When a publisher sends you a review copy, you receive a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to read it for the purpose of reviewing it. You do not own the copy. The copyright stays with the publisher and the author.

4.2 What you may not do with a copy. You may not:

• share, post, lend, sell, or give the file or any substantial part of it to anyone else;
• upload it to any file-sharing, archive, or “free books” site, or to any service that would make it available to others;
• upload it to, or process it with, any artificial-intelligence tool, model, or service, or use it to train, fine-tune, or evaluate one;
• remove, alter, or obscure any watermark, notice, or identifying mark in the file;
• circumvent any technical measure that limits how the copy can be accessed or used.

4.3 Copies are watermarked. Each review copy is marked with information that identifies the reviewer it was sent to — this may include your name and email address. If a copy is found where it should not be, the watermark identifies whose copy it was.

4.4 Pre-release copies. Some copies are sent before the book is published. A pre-release copy may differ from the final book. Do not quote from a pre-release copy in public before the book’s release date, and do not describe it as final. Once the book is released, brief quotation in a review is permitted under Section 5.

4.5 Copies can be withdrawn. A publisher may revoke a copy, and BookWorkz may remove access, at any time. When a copy expires or is withdrawn, your license to read it ends and you must delete any downloaded file.

4.6 No obligation to review. Receiving a copy does not require you to post a review, and never requires you to post a favorable one.

5.1 They are yours. You own the words you write. By posting a rating or review in the Library, you give BookWorkz and the relevant publisher a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display it in the Library and in connection with the book, for as long as it remains posted.

5.2 Honest and your own. A review must reflect your own reading and your own opinion. Do not post reviews you did not write, reviews of books you have not read, or reviews written for payment or in exchange for anything other than the review copy itself.

5.3 Disclosure. If you post a review anywhere — in the Library or on any other site — you must disclose that you received a free copy from the publisher. United States law and most retailers require this disclosure.

5.4 No conditions on sentiment. No publisher may condition a copy, or continued access to copies, on a positive review. If a publisher asks you to change or remove an honest review, or to review positively in exchange for copies, tell us.

5.5 Quotation. After a book’s release, you may quote brief excerpts in a review for the purpose of commentary. You may not reproduce a substantial part of a book anywhere.

5.6 What you may not post. You may not post content that:

• targets an author, publisher, or other reviewer personally — harassment, threats, or disclosure of private information;
• is discriminatory, hateful, or incites violence;
• is spam, advertising, or off-topic;
• infringes anyone’s rights, or is unlawful where you are.

5.7 BookWorkz does not pre-screen ratings or reviews and is not responsible for what reviewers post. Section 6 explains what we may do after the fact.

6.1 BookWorkz may hide, remove, or refuse to display any rating or review that breaks these terms, and may suspend or close a reviewer account that does. We may act on our own initiative or on a report. We will try to tell you when we act on your content, and why, but we are not required to explain every decision, and we may not be able to when disclosure would expose the person who reported it.

6.2 A publisher may block you from rating or reviewing their books, and may stop sending you copies. A publisher cannot remove a review that complies with these terms.

6.3 If you believe we removed your content or closed your account in error, write to admin@bookworkz.tech within 30 days. We will look again.

6.4 BookWorkz applies these rules to everyone, publishers included. A publisher who uses the Library to harass reviewers, solicit paid reviews, or suppress honest ones is in breach of the Terms of Service.

7.1 If you believe a review copy or a review posted in the Library infringes your copyright, send a notice to admin@bookworkz.tech with the information the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act requires.

7.2 We remove or disable access to material identified in a valid notice, tell the person who posted it, and accept counter-notices as the law provides.

7.3 Reviewers who repeatedly infringe lose their accounts.

8.1 Our Privacy Policy applies to you. In addition, because of how the Library works, publishers whose books you request can see your reader name, the email address the copy is sent to, your ratings and reviews of their books, and whether you have downloaded a copy.

8.2 We do not sell your information. We do not share it with other publishers.

8.3 When you close your account, we delete your reader profile. We may keep records of which copies were sent to you, and your acceptance of these terms, for as long as we need them to enforce Section 4 or defend a claim.

9.1 Reviewing is voluntary. BookWorkz does not pay reviewers, and receiving a copy is not payment. Nothing in these terms creates employment, agency, partnership, or any obligation to publishers beyond what Sections 4 and 5 state.

9.2 BookWorkz does not guarantee that any request will be approved, that copies will be available, or that the Library will be available at any time.

10.1 You may close your account at any time. Your license to every review copy ends when you do; delete any downloaded files. Reviews you posted stay in the Library unless you remove them first or ask us to.

10.2 We may close your account for breach of these terms, and may do so without notice where the breach involves distribution of a copy, watermark removal, or harm to another person.

10.3 Sections 4.2, 4.5, 5.1, 7, 8.3, 11, and 12 survive the end of your account.

11.1 The Library and every copy in it are provided as they are. BookWorkz makes no promise about the accuracy, quality, or fitness of any book, and none about the conduct of any publisher or reviewer.

11.2 To the extent the law allows, BookWorkz is not liable to you for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from the Library, a copy, or a review, and our total liability to you in connection with the Library is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars.

11.3 Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12.1 Section 23 of the Terms of Service — governing law, venue, and how disputes are resolved — applies to these Reviewer Terms and is incorporated here by reference.

13.1 We may change these terms. For a material change we give at least 30 days’ notice by email and by notice in the Library, and the change takes effect on the date the notice states. When you next use the Library after that date you will be asked to accept the new version once. If you do not accept, you may close your account; continued use after the effective date is acceptance.

13.2 The current version is always available at /reviewer-terms, and prior versions are available on request.
